Just over the border beyond the Rijk van Nijmegen region and near Kleve lies the landscape of the past. Rivers, floodplains and picturesque polders stretch in peace and simplicity towards the horizon.

A centrally located cycling paradise. And even if you don’t cycle, it’s magnificent.
Deep in the heart of the region lies Schenkenschanz, a former Dutch fortification dating from the late sixteenth century. With just around a hundred inhabitants, it’s a unique, old-fashioned village. The DIJKHUIS is a holiday home with a breathtaking view of the old Rhine floodplains. In the distance you can see the high moraines between Nijmegen and Kleve, and the vast forests on either side of the border.
